Twenty two years after founding the firm, Ian Tremain announces his retirement from QED Environmental Services. In a smooth transition, partners Ryan Tremain and Joe Scholz will be joined by new partner Michael Taranto who acquires Ian’s interest in the firm. Ian Tremain founded QED in 1993 with the vision of independence in the measurement and reporting of HVAC performance. Following successful introduction to the market of internal environment audits, in 2005 with an expanding team he launched hazardous materials surveys, setting the pace of growth in this product as regulations tightened. 2013 saw the firm achieve NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) accreditation for its service offerings, including the only Australian accreditation as internal air quality inspector.
“Since the beginning we’ve aligned ourselves with some of the best and brightest property industry people in the country and by striving to serve their evolving needs we’ve grown along with them. I’d like to thank all our customers, large and small, for their unwavering support over the years. I welcome Michael to the partnership and wish the whole team every success for the future” commented Ian Tremain.
Michael Taranto has a diverse business background, owning and growing industrial services businesses in various sectors including archives management, security, healthcare and transport/logistics. QED benefits from his substantial experience re-positioning businesses for sustainable growth by combining these skills with the deep industry knowledge of the existing management team. He commented:
“I honour Ian Tremain's vision in founding QED and his tenacity to evangelise independent auditing of the built environment to property owners and managers across the country. I’m thrilled to be working with this incredibly talented team at QED who are absolutely dedicated to the integrity of work they undertake for our customers in the property and healthcare industries.”
For the existing partners, this transition brings bright prospects for QED’s customers and staff. Joe Scholz, Partner commented: “This will enable us to strengthen our core offering to customers - we have some exciting developments in the pipeline for both healthcare and commercial markets”. And Ryan Tremain, Partner commented: “We see this opening significant opportunity for our existing team and for new built environment professional talent as our offering expands.”
